IOSA is an audit of the airline that ensures operations are conducted in a safe and secure environment. The IOSA audit covers eight scopes of the organisation namely:
Air Zimbabwe has taken on board the IATA Partnership for Quality (PfQ) initiative, which ensures that best industry practices in Quality Assurance Programs are adopted by member airlines as well as supporting operators to be in compliance with new IOSA requirements, namely 'Enhanced IOSA (E-IOSA)', which becomes effective from 15 September 2015.
We further promote safety at Air Zimbabwe through a Safety Management System (SMS) implemented in compliance with regulatory requirements, and to fulfil the organisation's policies, processes and procedures. The SMS is a systematic approach to managing safety, including the necessary organisational structures, accountabilities, policies and procedures' (ICAO Annex 19).
SMS provides a systematic, explicit and comprehensive process for managing risks through proactive, reactive and predictive methods of hazard identification. As with all management systems, it involves goal setting, planning, documentation, and the measuring of safety performance against the organisation's goals. Air Zimbabwe has a successful SMS woven into the fabric of the organisation. It has become part of our culture and the way all employees go about their work.
