Air Zimbabwe was awarded the Best Airline Exhibition Stand at the 19th Sanganai/Hlanganani/Dzimbahwe World Tourism Expo, which ran from 9 to 12 September at the Gymkhana Tourism Park in Masvingo.
The award recognised the national airline’s contribution to Zimbabwe’s tourism industry and its engagement with international buyers, tourism stakeholders and visitors during the four-day tourism showcase. Air Zimbabwe Board Chairman, Dr Silvanos Gwarinda, led the airline’s management team in receiving the award at the exhibition awards ceremony.
The recognition came as Air Zimbabwe played a key role in facilitating access to the Expo through its strategic partnership with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA), with the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry.
As part of the partnership, Air Zimbabwe operated flights connecting Harare and Masvingo, as well as Victoria Falls and Masvingo, facilitating the movement of international buyers, tourism professionals, exhibitors and other stakeholders attending the Expo.
The introduction of the Masvingo services enhanced air connectivity to the host city, with the inaugural Harare–Masvingo flight landing at Masvingo Airport on 5 September, ahead of the Expo. The service provided a convenient travel option for exhibitors, international buyers, delegates and visitors attending the tourism event.
By linking Masvingo with Harare and Victoria Falls, Air Zimbabwe helped improve access to the Expo and supported its objective of bringing international buyers and tourism industry stakeholders together to explore Zimbabwe’s tourism products and business opportunities.
Award-Winning Exhibition Presence
At the Expo, Air Zimbabwe’s exhibition stand provided a platform for engagement with international buyers, travellers, tourism operators and other industry stakeholders.
The airline showcased its passenger and cargo network, with particular interest generated around the relaunch of the Harare–London route.
The exhibition also gave Air Zimbabwe an opportunity to engage directly with visitors and industry partners, who provided feedback and insights on the airline’s services.
The 19th Sanganai/Hlanganani/Dzimbahwe World Tourism Expo brought together tourism operators, international buyers, exhibitors and other industry stakeholders in Masvingo. The event was organised by the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority and served as a business-to-business platform for promoting Zimbabwe’s tourism products and facilitating business exchanges with international markets.
The successful conclusion of Sanganai 2026 highlighted the importance of partnerships between the aviation and tourism sectors in connecting Zimbabwe’s destinations with domestic and international markets.
Air Zimbabwe, in partnership with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) and the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, has commenced scheduled air services between Harare and Masvingo, as well as Victoria Falls and Masvingo, ahead of the Sanganai/Hlanganani/Dzimbahwe World Tourism Expo, which is being held in Masvingo from 9 to 12 September 2026.
The flights, operating from 5 to 12 September 2026, are providing convenient travel options for exhibitors, buyers, delegates and visitors attending the Expo, while supporting increased visitor movement and economic activity in Masvingo and the surrounding areas.
The first flights operated today, with Air Zimbabwe operating three flights between Harare and Masvingo, including return flights to Harare. The airline is also operating flights between Victoria Falls and Masvingo during the Expo period.
The strong passenger turnout on the inaugural flights reflects significant demand for the new connections and highlights the importance of improved air connectivity to Masvingo, particularly as the province hosts one of Zimbabwe’s major tourism industry events.
The launch of these flights underscores Air Zimbabwe’s continued commitment to strengthening domestic connectivity and improving access to key national events and destinations. The initiative also contributes to broader national efforts to grow the tourism sector by enhancing connectivity to provinces with significant tourism, heritage and investment potential.
The flights are being operated using ATR 42 and Dash 8 aircraft, with Air Zimbabwe working closely with the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ), Airports Company of Zimbabwe (ACZ) and National Handling Services (NHS) to ensure that the necessary infrastructure and operational support are in place for the smooth and efficient operation of the flights.
